Remove iTunes Dead Tracks with ease.
July 16th, 2005

I was having an idea of writing a program that would scan iTunes playlist and remove dead tracks (the items in playlist that does not actually link to a file) from my iTunes playlist and probably publish it as another donationware. But, someone has already done a great job on it. Here is the link to Remove Dead Tracks 1.1. It is a donationware. So, if you like it, please consider making a donation for him.
The installation of this program is not so easy for beginner.
- First, you have to locate folder called Library in your home directory. And then the folder called iTunes in the library folder you just found.
- Now, look in iTunes directory if you have already had a folder called Scripts or not. If you don’t have it, create one(don’t forget the capital S). If you have one skip to the next step
- Now copy the script “Remove Dead Tracks 1.1″ to Scripts directory
- restart or open iTunes you will find an item on the menu bar that looks like the picture below
- click it and it will scan your iTunes playlist and tell you have many dead tracks there are and ask you to remove it
